Win XP Pro will be discontinued by June 30th 2008
- Microsoft announced
that, in order to
accommodate customers in certain segments
who may need more time to transition to
Windows Vista, we would continue to make
Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP
Professional Edition available to consumers
until June 30, 2008.
- We extended the life of
Windows XP to June 30, 2008 based on the
feedback we’ve received from our customers
and partners, but have no plans to extend
sales of Windows XP beyond June 30, 2008.
Mainstream support will continue until April
2009, and continuing support under our
extended support policy will continue until
April 2014.
- Microsoft announced an extension to the
availability of Windows XP Home Edition in
emerging market segments for a new class
of mobile personal computers, commonly
known as ultra-low-cost PCs (ULCPCs).
Windows XP Home Edition for ULCPCs
will be available until June 30, 2010 or for
one year after general availability of the
next version of Windows, whichever comes
later.
